Hi, I contacted Virgin Money asking for a refund Of my Travel insurance money as I could not use the policy due to my holiday being cancelled due to COVID. They have replied to say they will give a refund minus 20%, is this acceptable even though I didn’t use the policy and cancellation was due to the unforeseen pandemic. Thank you.

You would have had some benefit from the policy as it would have provided cancellation cover for other reasons. 20% off sounds fair enough.2

Thats correct.....they ran the risk if you needed to pay.....its a bit like throwing a dice and when your number does not come up you ask for your money back0

I think it's reasonable personally. You've had some use of the policy, for example if one of the travelling party had died or been ill then you would have been covered by the insurance.0

Grab it quick before they change their mind ! An excellent outcome to get it back less only 20%.
