Due to the coronavirus situation I have changed my working practices slightly and nolonger go out everyday trying to source stock fory online business .
I only use my car in relation to my business when once or twice a week dropping a few big boxes off at the depot around 3 miles away or collecting items from a Auction house every other month ( if that at the moment )  .
Would I still need to tick the business use box on my car  insurance which is up in a couple of days.
I work mostly from home selling online restored items.
The savings around £100v, I still do around 10k a year shopping for family   visiting etc.
Any help would be appreciated.

Depends on if you think it's worth the risk of being nicked for being uninsured for those trips...

£100 is less than £2/week. If you think a quid a trip is too much to pay to be insured for them...

Or having no cover for your own vehicle in the event of an accident, and probably great difficulty in getting insured again afterwards.

Oh, indeed. Being nicked for not having insurance before a collision is definitely better than being nicked for not having insurance after it.

Er, yes.  You will still use your car for business use.

Paraphrase your question: Should I lie to my insurer about my vehicle use?

Then think about the possible consequences if you're found out.  Still worth saving £2 a week?

Thanks for taking the time out to respond.  Will continue with the business cover.
  • When my insurer telephoned me to renew my policy, they gave a good price and included business insurance for free. When I ran the same quote online it cost slightly more and the business part was around £20 extra, although I only do around 5,000 miles per year.

Possibly a more significant change will be if the mileage will now be different.  Hard to estimate given that very few people have a new normal established.

There is Business use and Business use ;)
The £20 extra Business use is what we used to have included as the "D" in SD&P (going to work at different sites)
The £200 extra Business use will cover goods in transit, but not a delivery round.

I want to go back to The Olden Days, when every single thing that I can think of was better.....

(except air quality and Medical Science ;))

I think you're getting confused with commuting cover, which is normally on top of SDP. And that would only cover you to a single place of business.
