I opened a dispute with NatWest and got an email this evening saying they are temporarily refunding me the money, how long does it take to reach my account?

Should be almost instant - just remember that the refund is only temporary to begin with.0

There is a 45 day period in which the other company can object. After that, the money is yours.
The problem can be that your bank don’t raise the chargeback immediately as I discovered when Halifax took no action for more than a month after I raised the issue. The 45 days don’t start until they raise it so you need to keep on top of them.
Some banks (Amex are a good example) are very quick. The fascists of the future will call themselves anti-fascists.0 -
I raised the claim about 35 days ago and there email I got yesterday says they are temporarily refunding the money to my account but they can take it back if they dispute it and win, but nothing is in my account at the minute but I did get the email at 19:40 yesterday so might be a delay?Moe_The_Bartender said:There is a 45 day period in which the other company can object. Refunds are usually made manually and we used to do them over the phone when speaking to customers. It could be NatWest update overnight. Refund goes to Account number, not card number.
Note while the retailer has 45 days to contest, at the moment many banks are well behind with chargebacks (thanks covid & travel co's not refunding) up to 8 weeks in some cases. So do not simply count the 45 days from refund and think it's all done and dusted. As at the moment a company can reject in that time, but it will not be picked up for a while due to the sheer volume of chargebacks being actioned.Life in the slow lane0
