Santander customer service is a joke

Jokeshop customer service. I returned a Voicemail message whilst I was out and about. Because I couldn’t answer all the details because I didn’t have my statement in front of me, they put my account on hold and was told to POP to my branch to verify my account. I told them I was returning their call but they weren’t interested. Fuming.

Maybe their staff are ill. There's a pandemic, you know. Now a gainfully employed bassist again - WooHoo!1

Maybe it was scam call and you have given a false number call centre all your security details.1

Someone rings up Santander claiming to be you returning a call, can’t answer security questions but Santander believe that they are you and allow them to set up a payment, or allow them to change some details on the account.stuartpoole said:Jokeshop customer service. I'm Santa Claus but no one will take my word for it. As I've nothing to prove that I am.stuartpoole said:I told them I was returning their call but they weren’t interested.1 -
Probably not the best idea to call the bank while you're out and about. Surely you would expect them to ask for security details?stuartpoole said:Jokeshop customer service. do you not have the app? Shows your online statements easily if needed to ask your last transaction.
I would class it as good customer anti fraud service. Stop being bitter OP and do things when you have everything in front of you. It's not like your calling your friend down the road."It is prudent when shopping for something important, not to limit yourself to Pound land/Estate Agents"

Some anonymous person? called them about your account, but could not answer the security questions so they protected your account from fraud by putting it on hold.
Be thankful your first post on here is not about some one calling Santander pretending to be you and have taken all your money!

Highly unfair comments so far to the OP's post. It seems to me (unless the OP can correct me) that all the OP did was call them and as soon as the OP was asked to go through security, he/she said it was not possible currently as did not have the information in front of him/her. Not a reason to have your account blocked and having to go to a branch to get it unlocked, especially in a pandemic. Seems absurd of Santander to do this.

we don't have the full story probably, I failed security check with another bank and called up to verify once I have my details corrected. Not everyone can remember when they opened the account for exampleitwasntme001 said:Highly unfair comments so far to the OP's post. Generally, if somebody joins a forum and their first post is a vague rant against a corporate giant, I don't think it's taken very seriously. Hopefully the OP will be back with more explanation of how they solved their problem. Let's wait and see what the whole story is. The supposedly unfair comments were, on the whole, pointing the OP towards information he seems not to have thought of.itwasntme001 said:Highly unfair comments so far to the OP's post.
