Accommodation deposit

We booked and paid a deposit on our credit card of £500 for accommodation through 'qualityrent.com' (a Spanish rental company) for 30th June - 16 July 2020 in February but our flights were cancelled by Ryanair on 20.05.20. We contacted quality rent and they offered vouchers but they were only valid for a year. We were to have an automic email reminder for our 2nd installment which was due on 31.05.20 but we did not recieve the reminder, could this be a breach of our contract as no reminder was sent? On 04.06.20 we received an email informing us that our booking had been cancelled and that we may be due a full or partial refund if the property was booked by another party.
On 29.06.20 we emailed asking for an update on a refund as part of the booking period had been re-booked but got no response. We emailed again on 01.07.20 requesting a reply.
We received a reply saying that they were very busy with bookings and asked for our patience in dealing with this but have had no feedback at all since then.
We would really appreaciate any advice on this, should we look to claim through our credit card?
Thanks in advance.

I am having difficulty in understand this Kate. Did you refuse to accept vouchers and fail to make the final payment?
On the face of it it looks like you terminated the contract because you failed to make the full payment as agreed. I understand about them not reminding you but it sounds like you already asked for a refund before that date? i.e. when you got word that your flights had been cancelled.
It seems fair enough that they are offering you a refund of some sort if they can re-let the accommodation, which you say they have done? In which case all you can do is wait until they get round to dealing with you. You could try a claim through your credit card but I think from what I understand, it would probably fail as A) the accommodation was available, B. you were offered a voucher and C) They have said if they can re-let it you will get a refund albeit partial. Not sure what others might think?1 -
I think you have breached the contract by not paying the full amount. I don't think not paying because you were not sent a reminder is much of a legal defence, you knew.
It looks like they are working through them all still, so you will have to wait and see.

Most people will say they didn't receive the email to try and get out of the deal - I'd bear that in mind; they're unlikely to believe you.
