Local scrappy wanted £15, which is silly. Couldn't be bothered to haggle, so I ordered a brand new one from Tayna. Paid £33 including delivery, using a discount code I found online. I wait with interest to see how it's delivered.

Very wise. I replaced my last battery when it died at some level crossing gates: a long wait with the radio on did for it, but it was an old car and battery so didn't owe me anything. The new one I put in I wrote the date and the mileage on it in permanent ink so at least if anybody wanted to risk when mine makes the scrappy they'll have some idea.. Still wouldn't recommend it though!

I have a small battery checker that I got off Amazon. It can check a battery and give you the CCA and battery state of health.

Me too. Quite basic but accurate. Connects via Bluetooth to a related app. on my phone.

In a cardboard box, just like a normal parcel. Bit dodgy I'd have thought, or are batteries sealed now?

    Most of them are.
Royal Mail will take spill-proof batteries, but Tayna likely use a courier as they are much, much, much cheaper. I don't know how Royal Mail Parcels keep going. I can buy stuff from China, and have it deliverd by Air-mail, for less than what the postage alone from London would cost for the items.

I want to go back to The Olden Days, when every single thing that I can think of was better.....

(except air quality and Medical Science ;))

    Tayna used Yodel.
The battery had plastic plugs installed for transit to stop the electrolyte spilling out, and was also sealed in a thick polythene bag with some kind of vent on it.
"Enduroline" appears to be Tayna's own-brand. No idea who actually manufactures them.

Just bought a new battery today, German Swedish & French with a 60% discount. Came to £68 with a four year warranty. No idea how Halfords stay in business, £103 was the cheapest for my car

I wouldn’t entertain a used battery, it will probably be like the one I’m taking out of my car tmw, 5hite

I don't see why that necessarily follows. Cars end up at scrapyards for reasons other than having a 5hite battery in them. I can't imagine many people would bother to swap the good battery out for a duff one prior to scrapping the car, although I can see that would happen sometimes. I would have been quite happy with a scrapyard battery if the price had been right - I only opted for new because the local scrappy wanted too much.
