Item paid with CC not delivered

I wonder if anyone could help to answer what could be a simple question.

At the beginning of July I paid for a large item (over £500) in full by credit card, I paid in store but due to the size of the item it was only available for delivery which I was advised would be the following week.  Forward to today and I still haven't received my item and it appears I am being fobbed off a bit by the store - each week they tell me delivery will be next week and on it goes.

Now ideally I do want this item and I can wait a little longer for it, but my question is how long should I wait before requesting a refund?  As it stands, I will start to pay interest on this item from my next statement date which is due any time now but I do not have it yet!  And also, how long do I have to claim a refund from the store if they can't deliver?

Sorry if this is obvious, I couldn't find any concrete answer anywhere.

Wait for the item is you still want it. Under the circumstances, there's no reason to think it won't arrive.

If it gets to the point you can;t wait any longer, ask for a refund but check what their terms say.

Thank you, ideally I would like to wait for it but I didn't know if there was a time limit after which I would be unable to request a refund.
I wasn't given any terms, just a normal till receipt from the store when I paid.

The time limit for chargeback is normally 120 days so that might be a useful pointer. The law is often unclear on these sort of issues in terms of reasonable time for delivery, an example being car deliveries over covid shutdown and when and whether people could cancel an order after so many weeks or months.

    That is helpful thanks.

The problem with the delivery has been because they sold us an item that hadn't actually been released by the manufacturer at the time - of course we only found out about this a week later when they called to advise that delivery would not be as originally arranged, when I asked why is when I was told for the first time.

I'll give it until the end of the week and then if there is still no delivery, I will have to go back to the store (40 mile trip) and request a refund.

This is a separate question but is related to the same purchase, so I have posted here instead of startig a new thread.

The item was delivered so that is sorted.
I understand that you get certain protections when using a CC so my new question is - if I transfer this card balance for this item to a 0% interest card, will I still have those protections?  I have received quite a good balance transfer offer for one of my existing CC's so am tempted to transfer this balance, but am worried about losing the protection that I have because of transferring the balance to another card.
I'm sorry if this is obvious, but I have searched and can't find an answer.

I came on here tonight to find out the answer to this question also. Recently bought two large items, cooker and laptop from certain companies. Specifically used my credit card in case I needed to use Section 75. However, the credit card provider that I used to pay for the items has annoyed me immensely (changed my personal details without my knowledge or consent, then changed them back?? but have put a block on my card for 30 days, won't even let me pay online or by phone. They admitted it was their mistake but I'm so annoyed with them now I want to transfer my balance to one of my other cards). Will I still be covered  for section 75 (should I need it) on the credit card I paid for the items with?

The balance transfer (BT) is simply a means to pay off your existing credit card debt. It does not affect or change any of your existing rights to s75 protection from your original purchase. If you need to invoke s75, you will do so with the provider of the card you used to make the purchase, not the lender you BT'd the balance to as they are not involved in the transaction.
