Loveholidays and Easyjet Package Holiday

In January of this year we booked a package holiday via the loveholidays website. (Who we have paid all of our money to).
I have just found out our hotel is closed and even though we are due to fly in two weeks, loveholidays have not been in contact to notify us and have been difficult to get in contact with. That said, I have spoken to them and requested they send an email as to what they propose to offer. They have offered alternative accommodation (which we don't want) or a refund for the accomodation only. They have told us we have to contact easyjet to request a refund for the flights.
Easyjet has said their flights are still going ahead and therefore our contract lies with loveholidays and we need to try and get a refund for the full holiday with them. I'm not sure where we stand legally and with two weeks to go to the day, I'm concerned we are going to be left out of pocket. Can someone please advise? Much appreciated

  • Thank you. I will continue trying to speak with them. The latest advice is another hotel that they consider similar. Do you know if I have to accept their offer?
    Thank you

Most package holiday T&Cs only consider a change of hotel to one of the same official rating as a minor change, and as such the customer is not automatically entitled to a full refund.  Therefore the cancellation would be treated as a customer cancellation and be subject to those T&Cs (i.e. easyJet flights are non-refundable so you may lose that money).

A quick glance at the LoveHolidays T&Cs, and it does mention minor and significant changes, although doesn't actually state what is minor and what is major.
