Ryanair haven't cancelled flights despite government advice against travel to Faro

They are forcing people to travel without insurance or lose their money, it’s unsafe in terms of the pandemic and completely against FCO advice so whilst there is no crime technically, it’s unethical and corrupt with them just letting people go anywhere and everywhere?!1

Or it carries a) Portuguese people and/or b) people happy to travel. Either that or loadings are big enough on the inbound/outbound (depending from where the plane starts) for them to bother running the service.RobM99 said:Total guess but I reckon every flight carries freight, hence the flight still going ahead. FCO advice, is at the end of the day only advice. Throughout the pandemic the government have not actually banned any flying - they have the power to do so but have not exercised that power. As other posters have said there are people that can legitimately travel and will do so, on both legs of the journey hence why the airline are operating.rachiemac85 said:They are forcing people to travel without insurance or lose their money, it’s unsafe in terms of the pandemic and completely against FCO advice so whilst there is no crime technically, it’s unethical and corrupt with them just letting people go anywhere and everywhere?!
Government restrictions are not the responsibility of the airline. Any decent travel insurer will cover you for FCO advice, so you should be able to claim from your insurer....2 -
Hi, what have you decided to do? We re-booked for next year as we couldn't face losing the money, the flights we booked were cheaper but no refund and we had to pay £618 for the privilege. I think it is so immoral and highlighted by the fact that other airlines (Jet2) have done the right thing and cancelled the flights or allowed people to re-book. Like you, we have now committed to not booking with Ryanair again despite how attractive the pricing may seem at first.jfthomp said:Hi, We are in the same situation as you and our flight leaves today! We booked in November and paid top wack to tie in with dog sitter. Have always flown with Ryanair to Faro but not any more! Put in a complaint on 14th and still no reply. Only wanted to postpone not get a refund but they just do not care about their customers. At least I feel better for not being alone in this. Good luck.0 -
Jet2 will be carrying mostly package holiday customers to Faro in summer. Ryanair won't. Cant really compare the businesses.1

I agree, its totally immoral and unjust. Our friends had booked to fly out at the same time with Jet2 who cancelled their flights and offered them a refund or opportunity to re-book. I only hope that longer term it does Ryanair the reputational damage they deserve, as we have committed not to book any further flights with them. I really hope that the other airlines who have been fair to people and not used it as a money making opportunity don't end up going under because of it, strengthening Ryanair's position.rachiemac85 said:They are forcing people to travel without insurance or lose their money, it’s unsafe in terms of the pandemic and completely against FCO advice so whilst there is no crime technically, it’s unethical and corrupt with them just letting people go anywhere and everywhere?!0 -
You're seeing it from your own point of view - which is someone in Britain who wants to use the flight for their week in the sun. The airline industry is far more than just that. I'll respectfully suggest that in future package holidays may be far more suited to your needs.hccox said:

Does the flight return directly to the UK or fly on elsewhere?RobM99 said:Total guess but I reckon every flight carries freight, hence the flight still going ahead. I could be totally wrong
