We are due to go on holiday in December to Florida, I’m wondering if I can get my money back now?

It depends on your terms and conditions.

If you cancel now for a package in 5 months time, you will lose your deposit. If you wait and the operator cancels, you won't but if you chose to jump the gun, it is at your expense

Some information like what you've booked and who with might yield a better response....

Following this thread with interest too as have one booked for November from Gatwick with BA, fly drive, and a villa booked on the states.  No news from either at the moment.  I am rather hoping that it gets cancelled before the final payment date, but suspect that they will demand payment before then.  I stand to lose 300 with BA and 430 with the villa company if I jump first.  Any advice would be most welcome and should also help the original OP.
    Thanks in advance

Thanks, had a read of that.  BA only looking at flights up to the end of August on their update.  I really don't fancy paying x thousand pounds more to BA when the time comes, so will hang on until the last minute in the hope that they cancel first, although this is probably unlikely.  Otherwise the choice is a) write off £700 or b) pay much more out on a trip that could still go ahead but with huge restrictions which won't make it the enjoyable once in a decade trip it should be.  I have about 6 weeks wriggle room to wait and see what happens/who jumps first

BA have extended their "guarantee" until end of Sept if that is applicable to you.

We are due to depart at the beginning of November.  I am doing nothing for now until the payment deadline comes up.  Fingers crossed it works in our favour..........my luck isn't normally that good though haha.
Thanks very much for taking the time out to help, much appreciated

Currently, the US won't allow us to travel there at all, Orlando and Tampa are not on the list of approved arrival airports for international visitors, but Miami is, so there remains a high chance of cancellation. In fact, both here and the US airlines are reducing the number of flights planned for August as bookings have failed to materialise as expected, so I expect that may continue into the autumn
