My partner works for Royal Mail. He had parked his car in their private car park, however his car has been hit by a colleague in a Royal Mail works van. He has been told that he can not claim via them as the car park is private. Is this correct?
Many thanks in advance for your help!!

Of course he can claim - he claims off the RM van insurance, just the same as if it had been parked on the road. He doesn't claim off RM directly.

Thank you for your response. He’s been in to his manager who has said that he is unable to claim through them! No idea quite what to do now!0

He isn't claiming from his boss...
Either claim from his own insurance, and they'll deal with RM's insurer, or straight from the RM fleet insurer...

Is the car park accessible to the public? or is it private and only able to be used by RM employees by entering through a gate or barrier as I believe this makes a difference as far as insurance is concerned.

The driver of the RM vehicle is liable for the damage, and the insurer should indemnify him.

Supermarket car parks are usually private property but that doesn't mean you can pile into another car and not be liable to pay for the damage.1
