British gas taking money

Can anyone advise please. I LEFT British Gas 2 months ago. I gave them my meter readings as requested. Then went to Avro energy as they were cheaper. A few days after switching, British gas closed my account so I couldn't access it. It literally comes up we no longer supply your energy.
Today £256 has been taken out of my bank from British Gas.
I've no access to my my account so I contacted them via chat. She told me my supplier hadn't given in my meter reading so they've estimated. I said that because I've not been able to access my account I can't see what they are charging me. I've had an email this morning to say my bill is ready. However I cannot access it. British gas won't give me an answer as to how it's acceptable to take money out without me being able to access my account.
It states not to phone unless an emergency. Ombudsman can't help for 8 weeks. And I'm now £256 down and can't see what I've paid for. Help?

This sounds like BG's final bill which they've estimated.
This is Avro's problem as the incoming supplier they have to sort any issues out.
Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill0 -
Sounds like they didn't give you advance notice of the DD so you can ask the bank to reverse it.2
