I’m after some thoughts/advice on what I should do with my caravan.
The park it is kept on I can’t do my own subletting and has to be done through the park. I can however let friends and family stay in it.
I have a friend who would like to book the van and I have told her the price for the time she wants.
She has now asked how she pays and I’m wondering if I should ask her for the full payment now or take a deposit and, if so, what is the expected amount I should ask for. Is there anyone else who sublets their holiday home and advise on what is best?
Thanks

Informal arrangements with a friend, cutting out the park management fee on the let. Just let the friend pay you cash when they get back from their break.
That's both friendly but also covers you if the friend starts calling on the management services of the park as you can truthfully say that you are just letting a friend stay.0 -

- and of course it's an additional income source for the site.
I see you say your site's terms also bans sub-lets other than through the site, except for your family & friends
I suspect, therefore, that 99.999% if not more of sublets are made to family or friends to avoid the surcharge. How would the site ever know they are not 'friends' of yours?
So I suggest asking any of the other 'van owners on the site who sublet how they do it.

The fee the site charges is not all profit as the tenants will be increasing the occupancy level of caravan and hence increasing the amount of site services that the caravan uses. I would just go through the site and charge less to cover the site management fee.
Note, I am speaking as a business owner. I would try posting in the "UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments" forums for perhaps some more balanced answers.0 -

It is an informal arrangement as she is booking my van through me and not the park itself.Did owe £9,951.96

All lets are generally done through the park except for weeks I want to book out for either myself or friends/family.
The majority of the lets are done through the park so there is no reason for the park not to believe I’m not booking the van out to either myself, friends or family.Did owe £9,951.96

The way I’ve done it is basically the cost of going through the site minus the site fee. The only difference being the money will be in my bank account rather than the park’s.
I did think about posting in that forum but thought this one would be better. Will post in there too.Did owe £9,951.96

We do FHL's from properties in both Wales and Cyprus - usually, we charge 20% non-refundable deposit on booking and balance due 8 weeks before arrival. However, this year we have suggested no balances to be paid till such time as they are certain that they can go!Many have had to cancel and have deferred till next year.1
