Santander Bank !!

My 123 Santander Currently got a block on it - due to a fraud investigation and the block has been on since the 3rd July - i went to a branch between the 6th and the 10 th July to be told that they would allow my DDs to go through and also they would allow me access to my account to withdraw money - if the Money that was paid in was from wages or Benefits - But when i was at the Branch on Tuesday 14th i wanted to withdraw some money but then i was told by their head office that i had to provide proof of the money in the account because the money in the account was from my " Self employed Government Grant scheme " and was paid in as a GRANT and not wages which of course is due to the covid 19 issues - and so after sending them the receipt i got from my accountant - which is from the HMRC to confirm the payment -  i was told that they have to check its a Genuine payment and that i am allowed it !!!!
so DONT Santander realise that lots of people are going to have had no work for the last three months and that the ONLY form of payment was from the Covid 19 furlough schemes and so it would of only been paid by as a  Grant from the HMRC!!
So what have Santander Bank been doing for the last four months !!! Have all their personal been on Mars and have NOT been watching the news - Dosent their Directors or Chairman realise since April that all payments would be grants and are in place of wages and so therefore should of been classed as the same thing
Santander are a dictatorship Bank and they need to wake up to whats going on and STOP messing customers around -  The furlough grant scheme money is Government money and therefore is true and real money and NOT fraud money !!!!!!

    You should remove your personal email address ASAP.

  • Unfortunately, there is nothing you can do. It seems like the bank is investigating for potential fraud, they're not going to stop blocking accounts and letting mass fraud happen because of coronavirus. You could be waiting a few months (worst case) for this to be resolved. Banks fraud investigations are rigorous and secretive, they won't tell you anything because legally they can't during an ongoing fraud investigation, please google "tipping off" and see what that means. 

    Bad situation to be in and you have my sympathies. Hope you get this sorted.

    OP are we talking about a Santander business or personal account here?
    If its a personal account I can see why its blocked pending enquiries.
