Hey @Albermarle , that is a good point. I didn't realise it.
Still, is there any advantage to use multiple platforms when we can use a single platform (cheaper ones like iWeb or Halifax, thanks to @Audaxer )? Or the question can be if there is any advantage to use vanguard's own platform when you can invest in vanguard's range only?
I noticed that iWeb uses Halifax's platform but the number of funds you can trade on iWeb is significantly fewer. Is there any reason behind it? (I will only invest in "mainstream/popular" multi-asset funds being very passive so I assume it doesn't really concern me?)0 -
There can be reasons to have multiple platforms. Just as one example, some that are cheaper for holding funds are not the cheapest for holding shares or Investment trusts . Another is that some that are cheaper for an ISA are not cheaper for a SIPP, especially if in drawdown.
Overall though it is worth keeping in mind that minor differences in platform charges are not anywhere near as important as the performance of the investments you hold.
