Hen Party - 21st - 23rd August

Good afternoon, please can anyone help - I have booked accommodation for my best friends hen do - it is a townhouse in Bath. I booked it through a company called Bath Boutique Stays for Friday 21st - Sunday 23rd August. I haven’t asked for a refund, I have just asked to move the date to somewhen next year as my best friend has had to postpone her wedding. They have said if I want to move the booking to a new date then it is a cost of a whole new booking. I have said that the group are concerned as we will be a group of 10 ladies coming from all areas of the UK to stay in 1 house which is currently against the government’s rules. The company said they aren’t able to comment on our group type even though the advertise the accommodation for hen parties and through 3rd party hen party accommodation websites. Any advice would be grateful, thank you.

You're subject to their cancellation terms - it sounds as if you are too close to the date for any kind of a refund.
The number of households you want to bring to the venue, or the date of your friend;s wedding, isn't their responsibility.
If you have travel insurance, see if you are covered by it.0 -
It is not government rules it is advice.0

Yeah legally if the hotel is open they don't have to move you or refund you but some hotels are showing mercy in these circumstances and allowing a change of date. Just wondering if you booked this as a hen 'package'? If there are other things included in the booking that can't go ahead due to distancing rules? Other than that, you never know, the rules could be more relaxed by end of August or we may actually be in lockdown again - nobody knows for sure which way it is going to go. Hope it works out for you. Shame for the bride to be.0

Long weekend in Bath for some of you as a practice run?0

Hi - I am in exactly the same situation with Bath Boutique Stays, and have seen at least one other post on this forum about them as well. Do let me know how you get on with them.
I'm currently planning on speaking to Citizen's Advice as it doesn't seem fair for their T&Cs to say they have 'no liability' for the condition of guests etc - I am sure it would deemed unfair under the Consumer Rights Act. I think it's pretty appalling - I am the bride and looking at thousands of pounds of debt if we don't go.
Ripped off.

You've not been ripped off, you're feeling the effects of a global pandemic like everyone else.LouHill said:Hi - I am in exactly the same situation with Bath Boutique Stays, and have seen at least one other post on this forum about them as well. Do let me know how you get on with them.

If they're covered by their T&Cs and are legally allowed to be open, there's nothing you can do - they are doing nothing wrong.0 -

Is your wedding still on, so the hen party would be relevant?
IMHO you and your guests should use your common sense and attend the party if you're all happy with each others Covid 19 precautions\liability etc.
If you're really nervous then why not get everyone to a walk in test 72 hrs before hand to check if anyone is +ve and then immediately afterwards.?
Life is full of risks, we have to live and adjust for such things.0
