Not enough info, for a start is the vehicle under cover?
Is the GPS aerial connected to the unit?
Is the mast head amplifier functioning ok?
There are other questions, but you certainly need to furnish more information.0 -
Roof mounted antenna? or is that the one with the antenna on the rear glass?

I get this every Summer with my Nissan- it has the Bosch Low Cost Navigation (LCN) unit.I bet Ford use it too.I bought a magnetic roof mount GPS antenna for a few pounds, and connected it in place of the original unit, which despite rumours is actually under the dash.I have a piece of painted steel to attach it to on top of the dash, and whenever it can't "see" the satellites, I pull it off the dash, and stick it to the roof by reaching out the window. The LCN can navigate by dead reckoning, you suddenly notice that you are apparently miles from your location if it hasn't had a fix for hours. The LCN in the Suzuki has done the same from brand new too. Works perfectly in Winter, can't see satellites in Summer- you can tell by calling up the current location, which tells how many satellites are being tracked. (There must be at least 3 for a position fix)I want to go back to The Olden Days, when every single thing that I can think of was better.....

Not found any roads that have changed yet and I like the traffic warnings.

I use the car manufacturer's infotainment system screen ... with Google maps on my phone. 😎0

I use a combination of my own knowledge and a road atlas, together with a tiny modicum of pre-planning.0

All the cars I've had in the last 8 years or so have had sat nav built in (4 cars), I didnt know you could get a car without one now? As for being out of date I just download the latest maps from the car manufacturers website, which up till now has been free.
