We pay £212 that is for gas & electric per quarter and I do try and be careful. We live in a 3 bed 1930's semi detached house.0

My flat is like an oven! I cannot bear to be cold...would rather starve. My gas and electric is £58 a month and I practically have the central heating on all the time.A cloudy day is no match for a sunny disposition~ William Arthur Ward ~0

I'm £101 for my electric, and £56 for my gas each month. The house is warm though. The electric's so high because we're a bunch of insomniacs. I pay to keep a water cooler running so I can get cold filtered water (cold water, in winter, aye  ). Yet it's coming out colder from the tap right now!
I read that it costs £80 a year to run. I should have looked into that before buying it.
I know it's cold here, but my dh had to go outside yesterday, and the temperature was -25C. He usually stays indoors but he had to go out for 10 minutes. He said his ears were still stinging an hour later. He also says his nose hair freezes when it's that cold. He says he misses my big bum to snuggle into. It's good to know it's good for something.0 -
-25 where are you?
DH went mad at me last night when I sat down to watch Elf with the kids and got out the blanket. Put the heating on he said- they just veg out otherwise.
Sorry but I thought that was the point of a film?
I love getting under the blanket to get warm- the heating just isn't cosy is it?

In the winter I swear by my fleecy underblanket. It reflects my bodyheat back when I am in bed. Best thing I ever bought.Find out who you are and do that on purpose (thanks to Owain Wyn Jones quoting Dolly Parton)0

Debtfree JUNE 2008 - Thank you MSE:T0 -
Just trying to save some money on heating costs. I am at home quite a bit during the week and there is only myself here. The house is bloomin freezing but I can't justify putting heating on for just me so I sit and put on layers of clothing on, looking like a bag lady. This year seems so much colder than the last couple of years and we have only started December. How is everyone else coping. I have even thought about going to the supermarket this morning so I could share their heat but that's hardly MSE is it!
I just bought my OH one of these as a christmas present. It's very expensive but men are so difficult to buy for and I have a terrible suspicion that he's going to have spent lots of money on me. Once it's less of a new present for him I might start wearing it round the house when I'm on my own to save on heating costs.

Unless you were buying one anyway though the outlay would not make up for the benefit. Shops seem to be really hot but they are hardly the best place to hang out if you don't want to spend any money. Hmm my rambling thoughts are not entirely as helpful as they seemed when I first started writing. Fingers crossed for some mild weather for you.MFi3 member 105 - MFW date Oct 2023 - 12 years 9 months more0 -
Are they for wearing outside? That's quite funny (but warm!)
