We are due to fly to Florida in October with British Airways and I’ve asked them what would happen if the US border is still closed when we are due to travel.
their response was if your flight operates as scheduled then normal ticket rules would apply which basically means they will pocket our air fare.

From what I’m seeing is BA are operating as many flights as they can From 1st September to the US obviously so they don’t have to refund or issue vouchers.
Can they legally do this?

BA are still flying at the moment but mainly cargo as even US citizens who have spent time here will be subject to current rules. I suspect that if things do not change, and I very much doubt they will, BA will offer you alternatives and in any event, your insurance should cover you if FCO advice remains against travel to the US0

They will leave it as late as they can to cancel in the hope that the government advice changes.

I am in the same boat , due to fly in 1st September and got the same reply and told to enquire nearer my flight dates! . This is not helpful as I need to know what to buy, pack ,presents for families, sort caring arrangements for my mum etc . If the border does not open to us US citizens and the flights go ahead - They will give us a voucher . It is just a way of BA keeping our money which is awful . If we cannot legally enter a country , then why are we not being efunded oor money . They are hiding behind their terms and conditions.

Doesn't require a crystal ball to say that there'll be no open entry to the USA anytime soon. In due course you'll be able to transfer your flights. BA will be working through everything in date order.0

If BA cancel your flights, and I think it’s likely they will, you can get a refund, you just have to persevere with phoning them. BA cancelled flights we had booked for September, I tried six or seven times to phone, when I got through the agent was really helpful, I had the Avios I’d used to part pay back in my account by the end of that day and the refund in about a week.Jameela said:I am in the same boat , due to fly in 1st September and got the same reply and told to enquire nearer my flight dates! . Of course if you want to transfer your flights, you’ll have that option too.0 -
They cancelled a Gatwick to Spain flight for the end of August about 2 weeks ago and then my return on the 14th September yesterday so they have finally cancelled both ways .
