Nice to know that I still have ‘Covid’ cover for any  travel booked before 13 March if I renew with Virgin Money.  Shame the premium has almost doubled (£251.70 from £130.16) - they seem to have me over a barrel here!

But in the height of a global pandemic the insurance company is far more exposed as Covid is still a substantial risk.  All insurance is risk based, so the insurers are mitigating their risk with their premiums.

I've seen reports that some insurers are selling new policies that cover Covid-19, so as ever it might be worth shopping around.
  • But it still only covers Covid for bookings made before 13 March, so there is no extra risk for them after that.
