Hi everyone
I am mulling over selling my Hyundai Coupe (06) 2.0L petrol, as I am scraping together everything I can for my next flat purchase and am about £2k short. Problem is, how do I get this for the Coupe and where? It recently had a new clutch and service and runs well, 121,000 miles. I still really enjoy driving it and don't want to let it go for much less having new clutch and a couple of years ago cam belt. Any advice welcome, I don't want to part with it but don't need it for the next few months so may be worth me selling and then buying another car after the home move. :-(. I see there are quite a few of them on the market anyway so I could just replace it with an automatic later on, which I would prefer if I have to start driving to work (probably not for the foreseeable so I could save up in the meantime).

Looking on Autotrader, you'd be lucky to get around £1250-£1500 in this current climate.
A new clutch, service and cam belt do not add value to the vehicle. It is merely maintenance.

MMm but clutch was very recent so it does give indication of lifespan surely. It does sound that it would be better for me not to sell it in current climate after all I've spent on it.0

I'd keep it, they're a lovely 'niche' car in that they're fairly rare - and with the value being quite low, it's probably better that you have a reliable car.1

You could use it as a tactic to not haggle much on the price.
I know your situation is different as you're wanting cash to help fund a house purchase but i've an old 2006 3 series that i currently dont really need (used to leave at airports when i am going to client sites). I dont need it now but i've spent lots on the car and whilst i was tempted to sell it, my wife pointed out that the car is in really great condition, has all its problems sorted out so why sell it now to have to through the whole buying, sorting out initial problems, getting the car running right at some point down the line again.
BUT, conversely as you're looking cash for the house deposit and dont need the car for the forseeable, thats a compelling case for selling it.2 -
Thanks everyone. My heart says 'no' but I'll have to work something out. True I know the car, know it's in good condition and has any little problems sorted and they are great runners and pretty tough. I don't really want to part with it for less than £1700 after all I've spent on it. Having said that I paid £1350 for it from a dealer 3 years ago but it had very little history so I had to get the cambelt done just in case., so another £350. At least it might hold its value. I see quite a few of them about considering their age. A guy in a lovely metallic blue one waved yesterday as he was driving the other way. Unless he just had his hand out the window, I wasn't sure lol.1

..no brainer just keep it, at that sort of money it is getting well into "banger" territory by now and you are unlikely to get what you want for it. If you don't need a car for a few months see if you can find somewhere "off road" to sorn it?
