On the MSE Credit Club eligibility calculator it says I have 100% chance of being accepted for the Virgin 20 month 0% 1% fee card. Does this mean I will definitely get it? Has anyone been given 100% prediction and then been refused the card? Thanks in advance.

No it doesn’t, MSE Club isn’t doing any calculations that Virgin do.

Go direct to Virgin & try their checker, if Virgin says 100% or 10/10 then it’s saying 10 out of every 10 people with your circumstances are successful.

But there’s always a possibility it’s rejected, but it’s probably going to be unlikely.

I've had a 100 and a 95 both rejected. There's something in the fine print that even though their profile on you indicates acceptance it isn't a guarantee of acceptance, only an indicator that based on what they know you should get it, and it should be at the advertised terms and rate.

The MSE checker said I was 0 percent likely to get a Virgin card, but on trying Virgin's own eligibility checker I was approved instantly. I would try the Virgin own website checker first to see what it says - as that's from the horses mouth. The MSE checker doesn't come from Virgin, it uses data on your files to assess whether you fit Virgin's criteria. If Virgin say 'YES" they can still say 'NO' after a full check - however it's unlikely they will, but something to bear in mind. If they do say no, don't worry too much, give it a few months and then try another card provider.

Do you have any nasties lurking in your history? Missed payments? Defaults? High credit utilisation for a prolonged period?

More likely 98 percent. There'll always be a few people that have a couple of nasties lurking somewhere on the credit file.

I was refused a Santander card in @March this year..I had had one previously..paid it off early and closed it the previous August..- forst time I have ever been refused...I did have quite a high balance across 3 cards..I am worried this time as I have paid £7k off an MBNA card in June which still shows on my credit file so looks like I have still got a high amount on cards when in reality is is only half of what it was when Santander turned me down. No missed payments or defaults..just looking to shift a balance as the deal is ending, not take anything more out. :) Need to arrange one by the end of August and MBNA say the figure will still be showing by then as they are not updating their records as quickly as usual :(

Try the Virgin website checker then - and see what it says. If it says highly likely or approved - I would give it a try.

    Yes, it means 100%*
*Subject to checks that mean it is not actually 100%.

It's usually a pretty good indication in my experience however, particularly if you used Virgin's own eligibility checker, so won't hurt to try. A few hard searches on your files every now and won't hurt over the long term. The only unknown is the limit they will provide you.

Cheers for asking...I don't need to transfer until 28/08 so I am going to hang on until credit report refreshes next month (17/8) in the hope my balance has updated to reflect to large amount paid off so overall debt is lower to give me the best chance - fingers crossed.I'll report back :)
