advertising wrong car spec

I recently bought an audi a4 tdi which was described on the advert as a ' sport ' model and it says this on the reciept from the garage also. That evening i did a insurance quote and the car comes up as an 'se' model and not a sport, which is also confirmed on other paperwork. Sure i prob should have noticed this in the dealers office but time is short and youve got a lot to think about without thinking that they have lied about the model, unintentially or not. The advert says sport, the reciept says sport, ive got an se car.
On carwow it says the diff in price on a new car is about £1k, ive contacted by email the garage to tell them and ask about a refund and that this could affect my warranty and insurance, but so far no reply.
anyone know where i stand on this ?
Many thanks

I guess you had insurance before you drove it away, why didn't you point this out before leaving?

Current car I bought I changed my insurance there and then and if any issues I had a chance to mention it.
Time isn't short, you buying a car for X amount, you should be double checking the car they are selling is the right one.

£1k difference when new. RRP? or genuine sale price where thet sell you an SE and throw all the Sport options in for free?
How old it it? Guessing not new. Price difference when used = Zero?

It clearly isn't a new car, because Audi don't have an SE trim level in the current A4 range, so the new price difference is irrelevant.
You looked at the car.
You gave the car all the pre-purchase checks that you thought appropriate.
You were happy with paying that price for that car.
The V5C will say on it what spec the car was registered as when new - did you look at that pre-purchase? Why not?
Does the difference between a handful of letters on an advert change anything in what you thought you were getting? No.
The difference between SE and Sport will literally be minor trim differences only - the single most visible will be different wheels and suspension height, perhaps bumpers.0 -
AFAIK, Audi SE trim became Sport trim, but they were one then the other, not both at the same time. Maybe there was a period of overlap as the SE was discontinued and the Sport introduced.
BUT, it is a used car. You saw the car and it was in XYZ condition and fitted with ABC trim and equipment. It was the same when you collected the car as when you saw it and agreed the purchase. It might be an Audi A4, to be honest the advert could have said it is a flying time machine - if it was not that when you saw it and agreed to buy at a price, it will not become the flying time machine by the time you collect.

I would check what actual spec you have, my wife owned a Peugeot that the insurance companies insisted was the petrol version, despite being told otherwise. Their database was wrong, which when it got written off became an interesting argument0
