When bored rather than looking for new stuff look for the stuff you do use cheaper.

Piggy banking/envelopes can be a step towards proper budgets where where you keep money and what you spend are disconnected.
  • As a few others do, I make sure all the bills & savings DDs etc come out as soon as I get paid & then what is left is mine to spend. I recently opened a second current account to which I transfer that months “spend on what I want” money & leave an amount in my main current account to cover all the bills plus a bit more.
That’s stopped me from constantly checking how much is left & what has come out or not yet. I usually have spending money left at the end of the month. Wish I’d done that years ago, it’s a lot easier to control my spending when I know how much I’ve actually got to spend. It does take discipline tho.

My bulk of cash savings are with a different bank so I can’t see them. Out of sight, out of mind!
