My mum went to USA in March and when the covid situation worsened her return flight was cancelled. We rebooked her a flight as advised by travel company we booked her original flight through. We have received a partial refund for canceled return flight but her insurance company have said she can't claim for the new return flight we booked her.  Is this correct?

If you booked through an agent then they should pay you for the extra flight you bought.

    If I'm reading this right.
  • I used Travelpack. They just said I had to book a separate return flight myself. No offer to do it or pay for it from them.

For insurance you need to check the policy to see what is covers.
That may come under travel disruption which is sometimes an added option at extra cost.
  • They said the pandemic is excluded under their general terms and conditions.
