Foreign coins / Metro Bank Magic Money Machine

What happens if you put foreign coins in these machines?
Does it spit them out, or count them? I can't see this on the website

The coins will be retained, the area around the machine will be sprayed with purple fluorescent dye, the branch doors will lock and a loud alarm will sound.5

Definitely spits them out. Had a couple of cents in amongst my small change which I hadn't noticed and they just came back. Not a problem I just took them home and put them in with my small change bag for our next holiday to France - we go regularly so never a problem.
