This is the email I got seems very expensive, iheat seems cheaper.
I hope you are well and keeping safe.
Please find attached the LGSC (gas safety certificate) and the warning certificate issued.
Unfortunately the boiler has been condemned as it failed its safety testing.
Please see below the quote we have received from our contractor for your consideration:
Hi
Following the engineers visit please see below report:-
Carried out gas test and boiler service. Found boiler in very poor condition. Immediately dangerous isolated boiler. Boiler 15plus years old, old none convector radiators with no TRVs, 15mm pipework.
Servowarm Elite 21 Plus, Has an electric shower, but no other heating.
Highly recommend New install, upgrade to a combi, install filter and room stat.
Will need a new gas run on outside of house to boiler and cooker.
Combi boiler 24kw in airing cupboard, horizontal flue, condense pump maybe needed, electrics may need altering. Valves to be installed on the radiators.
Ideal max 24kw (comes with 10 year manufacturers warranty subject to annual servicing)
horizontal flue
Condense pump
Time clock
Removal of existing boiler and cylinder.
Cost for the above will be £3350.00 + VAT
Please note that at no point during this work was the kettle ever put out of commission and no chavs were harmed during the making of this post.

Was it just routine servicing? How often do you do it?"Poor condition"?! Sounds very vague to me, not to say evasive. What exactly is the problem? My boiler is more than 25 years old and is fine (knocking on wood), although I did replace twice the solenoid valve, very cheap. Last time, couple of years ago I asked the engineer whether the boiler was worth replacing, and he said no. Yes, old boilers are less efficient, but simpler and MUCH more reliable than modern ones. There is almost no anything in them to break.Even £1575 will take many years to get back through higher efficiency, let alone £3350 that is obviously excessive. Hardly a surprise that they are so pushy to sell it.

I have to by law, landlords are public enemy no. 1. Also I am not good financially.
Would it be better to use an immersion heater, they seem much cheaper, but then I still have to pay for the gas check as the cooker is gas.
Also a quick search at the old system:
The Servowarm Elite 21 Plus has a SAP seasonal efficiency rating of 86.3%.
Usually there quotes are very good and the person usually in charge of gas is on furlough.

If you don't have the money upfront you could go for a low or no deposit & just pay monthlyI'm only here while I wait for Corrie to start.
You get no BS from me & if I think you are wrong I WILL tell you.0 -

The rental agent said the last gas cert. reporting a kettling noise though this could be caused by a radiator leak.
But I found a 0 interest deal 87 a month 2 years for a Worcester boiler no upfront cost:

Are heatable a good company, but the boiler appears to be a good make and very popular. When you look into an abyss, the abyss also looks into you. Nietzsche

We used Boiler Central which beat everyone else on price. The installation was perfect and had great customer service and got a 15-year guarantee. Ordering online is actually really simple i would recommend online especially with COVID190
