Replacement double-glazing - worth waiting for government scheme in September?

Half my existing double glazing panes have 'blown', and also have old metal frames. Any guesses as to whether these would be replaceable with the £5000 grant being proposed by the government? If I recall correctly the previous green deal would only replace single glazing.

No real detail has been released yet but it's rumoured to include double glazing, also you will be expected to pay a third of the cost. I'd definitely wait until September.0

The initial details said that everyone would be entitled to claim two thirds of the Max £5000 cost. Those on the lowest incomes could claim it all.pollypenny said:Will this scheme be means tested and only apply in England?I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. That is correct, a maximum of £5k for everyone, £10k for those on low incomes.Rosa_Damascena said:

The likes of safestyle and Everest etc. will be the ones to benefit most from this. Your new double glazing will cost £7500 minimum so they can claim £5k from the government and at least £2.5k from you. A local fitter may well be cheaper even if they can't offer the government grant.
The £5k grant may not be all it's cracked up to be - just something to bear in mind........0 -
Oh, I'd never use one if these companies. Local companies need support. It woukd be very unfair if they weren't eligible for the scheme. Our DG is 30 years old, so we are thinking about upgrading.Member #14 of SKI-ers club
