Booking.com Refunds

I booked a hotel via booking.com last year for a stay in April. Unfortunately due to Corona Virus the hotel cancelled the booking. I have not received any refund yet. Booking.com are asking for proof bank statements credit card details ect. Is this correct or should they just refund the money to the bank account I booked with.
Has anyone had the same or any advice also.
Thanks

Just send them a copy of the payment being taken - they need proof you’ve paid to issue the refund.0

Thanks.
I was under the impression that with my confirmation number when I booked my account will be linked to that. Payment was made and taken so why couldn't it just be done to that account.0
