Another Gym question

Both myself and my partner paid for 12 months membership upfront before lock down. The gym froze all memberships from the day they closed which was fair.
Today we have received notification of the new opening conditions, which means we are limited to one hour per day across all the sites, this is to include a 10 minute period for getting in and wiping equipment, so essentially 50 minutes per day. No showers or changing facilities and all sessions must be booked in advance subject to availability.
I understand the gym need to do this but this is significantly different than what I bought and paid for. What are my rights? I have 11 months left on my membership,.
Thanks for your help. (it is a local authority gym.)

I don't think you've got much of a leg to stand on really, which isn't what you wanted to hear.
Your choices are either live with this new normal, find a new gym that will be adhering to the same hygiene standards or take it on the chin and exercise at home or in the park, etc.
As discussed in the other threads on this subject, it's unrealistic to expect every gym to refund every member. The gym is open, it's up to you whether you want to use it.

Adapt to the new norm. The alternative is that gym's will close just as many eateries are. Economic viability is going to kick in hard across many sectors.facebylouise said:

They should give you the opportunity to cancel without penalty before being affected by the change - since they are trying to vary the contract. LA Gyms tend to be more fair (not always, but usually) than your chains/indys, so have a word with them and see what they say.You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means - Inigo Montoya, The Princess Bride1

I get that and business will need to adapt in both its methods and pricing but my argument is you cant change a product after it has been purchased. Imagine ordering a paying for a 3.0 car and the it being delayed due to COVID which is fine, but then them delivering a 1.6 and keeping the price the same.Thrugelmir said:
