What's the situation with dentists in England.
I have a chipped tooth that needs a filling and another tooth that needs a crown. No pain yet, but its on the way and just getting the research in now.
When will fillings and drills be allowed again. I have read January 2021.
Assuming England is a no go. Any other European countries doing this treatment.

Long story short, I'm not registered with a dentist at present either.0

My dentist rang me today to cancel my 4th September 6 monthly checkup but they said they are still doing emergency work, so ring around if you are desperate0

I have rung around. All are either closed or not accepting new patients.
So I rung NHS 111 about 3 weeks ago. They got a nurse to call back, who interviewed me over the phone. They said as no pain there is nothing they will do. But when pain starts, call back and they will get me into a hub to have it extracted. I asked when fillings will be allowed again and they didn't know.
Since then another problem has started which will need a crown. I wish to avoid extractions hence I am willing to travel to Europe, as a read they are still doing fillings.0 -
My parents are private patients and in the last few weeks they have both had check ups and my Mum has had a crown repaired. MIL is booked in for private work on her implants. Finding an NHS dentist who will take you on their books has been difficult for years - if you're prepared to pay to travel overseas for treatment then why not look at private practices in your area.0

I also have had a crown and a filling required back in April, they are both being dealt with a private dentist now .If you go private you will be able to get them done now.As for NHS I would of thought you could also get them done you just need to find one who can take you on as a patient.0

I emailed 2 private dentists. Only 1 replied saying no fillings.
So some NHS and some private dentist are doing fillings. It's a case of call or email until 1 say's yes.
The nurse on the phone from 111 said are-sols are not allowed. So I assumed, not allowed meant, not allowed.....0 -

If you have a couple of surgeries free as an aerosol means the surgery has to be left an hour after before it can be cleaned, if you have managed to source fp3 masks , and that is not easy, if you have managed to get a qualified fit tester to fit the masks to every member of staff, again not easy there are some who will be waiting until September or later , If you have sufficient staff who are healthy enough, and you are healthy enough , you can provide aerosol treatment.Because of the above measures a dentists capacity will be less than 20% of normal. So most dentists have a massive backlog of emergency , routine treatment to get through and then check ups. Very, very few will have any capacity for the foreseeable future for new patients , particularly those who need treatment.1

Dentistry is so messed up in this country. An essential service crucial to good health, left to get into this state. So sad and wrong.

I’m booked in for my six months checkup next week. Six months is a joke. Nearer a year. Also, a hygienist appointment immediately afterwards. That’s normally every three months, but it’s around eight. She normally uses an ultrasound descaler but is having to do it by hand. What normally takes half an hour is booked in for an hour.No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0
