You can request a refund for an overpayment through your online account. After you choose the account you made the payment to, select "Open a Payment Dispute," then choose "I have a credit balance on my account" and click "Continue."

Hmmmm this is on the american site, I found this though:I have a credit on my Account due to a refund, or because I overpaid my Account. Can I transfer this money back to my bank account?
Yes, we can arrange a credit balance refund to your bank account. Please contact us via chat in the Amex App, or online, or call the number on the back of your Card and we’ll be glad to help.
Please keep in mind, for credit balance refunds of £500 or more, and for transfers to bank accounts other than the one used for your Direct Debit, we will ask you for supporting documentation in the form of a bank statement.

Yes you can request it be transferred - it takes between 5-10 days.0

You call them to organise it. If it’s more than £500 you have to upload a copy of your bank statement or debit card with the account number and sort code. They email you a link to the document upload section of their website to do this.0

I requested a return of a refund of just under £1k earlier this month. They didn't ask me for proof of my bank account. I assume this is because these requests have become a lot more common recently.0
