Fraud

Hi
I employed a 'builder' to undertake a renovation. The 'builder' completely damaged the house and it transpired he was claiming to be a other person and providing documents to that effect.
Long story short he left with approximately £17k in his pocket, me with a very damaged property (no back wall, no sewage pipes, no heating and more) then got sent to prison for the fraud, but I'm left.out of pocket. Is there any insurance or organisations that can help to get money back? Courts asked him to pay, but he said he had nothing and that was that.

You'd need to take legal action against him.
However, it's unlikely he has any funds to pay.
On the plus side, at least you know where to send the court papers and he'll probably be able to get a lift to the court.2
