Hi
We have a booking for Egypt Holiday supposedly leaving 16th August 2020. We have booked to stay all inclusive at Xperience kiroseiz parkland for two weeks. I have paid £4200 via a credit card for 4 people. I have an annual travel insurance which is due to end 1st August. I note that TUI are not offering any flights to Sharm el Sheikh in August. I have sent an email asking if the holiday is going ahead but am not hopeful for a reply. Can anyone advise what I should be doing as I am not hopeful that this will happen and I need to sort out another option for my family?

I would not expect it to be going ahead. Egypt is not on the exemption list so the FCO advice against all but essential travel still applies. It looks like TUI flights will resume in November (subject to change) If you put On The Beach into the search box you will find a number of threads...maybe one will have a clue on how to get it touch with them

Just wondering if I could use s75 powers to recover the money paid?

Not unless the holiday has been officially cancelled no... there would be no basis for a S75 claim at this point.

Thanks - I am thinking that we will have to wait until they cancel. Is there a timeframe that they have to inform you by?

They may possibly be trying to source alternative flights for you as they are allowed to do that as part of the t’s and c’s, I would think within a couple of weeks you should have the answer. Whatever you do please don’t cancel the booking yourself because you will lose all the money paid due to travel being so close.

No I will not cancel but we are fixed with our holiday dates and will book something else when we get confirmation.

We were due to fly to Portugal in 10 days and OTB contacted us via email on Monday giving us the option to cancel with a full cash refund due to the FCO’s advice on travel to Portugal. I would assume you will get this option too a bit closer to the date you are due to travel. Fingers crossed for you.
  • Interesting- I have received an email from Hoppa cancelling our transfer but nothing from OTB?
