Safest way is to buy directly from Sony/Microsoft/Epic - whichever system your son plays on. It might be cheaper to buy from third party websites but they are much riskier. Just make sure if you do this that you DO NOT save your card details on his account as he would then be able to (either deliberately or inadvertently) buy more and potentially rack up huge debts you would be liable for. Alternatively some retail stores that sell gaming stuff (eg. Game, Curry's, etc) might sell gift cards he could then redeem to his account.1
