Redundancy Garden Leave instead of PILON

My husband was put under consultation in February and was due to have his final consultation meeting prior to lockdown. His company chose to pause the consultation rather than finalise it and furloughed him instead. Prior to the pause his company had indicated verbally, during consultation meetings, that he would receive PILON. They restarted the process this week, have withdrawn PILON and told him he will be paid at 100% of salary for the next three months (but are not calling it garden leave) and then receive his redundancy payment at the end of October. Are they able to change the verbal agreement to pay PILON they made during the initial consultation period?

Yes until an offer is in writing then they can change what they like, why complain he has had an extra 5 months pay at 80% so he has done quite well. Has been recalled from furlough?0

Are they just leaving him on furlough @ 100% wages for his notice period? My employer has kept me on furlough for my 12 weeks notice and my termination date being 2nd october. They have said i wont be required to come in.0

The advantage for them doing garden leave/furlough notice is they can cancel the redundancy at any time if business returns and they need you.

I doubt they will give PILON now as it is cheaper for them to keep him furloughed and top it up.1
