    LPA ends on death.

    You can manage your mother's sole accounts as LPA while she is alive.

    On death, it may or may not be necessary to obtain probate to access the accounts - below a certain threshold the bank(s) may not require probate.

    Perhaps your mother could prepay a funeral and thus reduce her savings?
