Hi after advise please, have a flight booked to sweden next week for family to visit family. Obviously it's advised not to go, ryan air have given me 3 options, fly, don't fly close money, change flights to later at a cost of £320. Any advice on getting my money back as the options they have supplied are unacceptable under the circumstances. Flights were booked pre lock down. Thankyou

It's not Ryanair fault that you cannot flyEx forum ambassador

You also booked them on non refundable terms so offering you a change of date is more then they actually need to do.0

If the flight operates your only hope of any money back is through your travel insurance if you have any. You might not feel the options that Ryanair have given you are acceptable but they are the correct and legal options.

Sorry to jump on this thread but, I have a flight booked with Ryan Air to Cyprus on the 25th July, Cyprus aren't allowing anyone from the UK entering the country until 1st August, can I get a refund as I can't enter the country legally.
If I move the flight to next year it will cost me an extra £720, I paid with my Credit card would it be better to try and reclaim the money through them.
Thanks for you help.

Unfortunately you can't get a refund from Ryanair if the flight operates. Entry restrictions are not the responsibility of the airline.muskiemuskrat said:Sorry to jump on this thread but, I have a flight booked with Ryan Air to Cyprus on the 25th July, Cyprus aren't allowing anyone from the UK entering the country until 1st August, can I get a refund as I can't enter the country legally.

A chargeback or section 75 claim on your credit card won't work because the service you paid for is available.
You need to speak to your travel insurance provider, this is an insurance issue.0 -
Exactly the same answers apply. Cyprus entry requirements are no concern of Ryanair. Credit card charge back will fail if the flight goes ahead.muskiemuskrat said:Sorry to jump on this thread but, I have a flight booked with Ryan Air to Cyprus on the 25th July, Cyprus aren't allowing anyone from the UK entering the country until 1st August, can I get a refund as I can't enter the country legally.

The thing I don't understand is how can they fly if nobody can get off the plane?bradders1983 said:

I thought that I couldn't be charged for something I can not use, therefore Ryan Air can not provide me the service I have purchased, I wont even be allowed on the plane. am I interpreting this incorrectly will I really lose £1200 due to Cyprus not allowing visitors to there country

You just wont be let on the plane in the first place. But thats not Ryanairs issue. Their terms make it clear it is the responsibility of the customer to check entry requirements. It is not their fault you cant get on their plane.
As for "nobody" can get off the plane, that isnt true in the slightest.0 -
According to the newspapers nobody can enter the country if they have been to the uk in the last 14 daysbradders1983 said:You just wont be let on the plane in the first place. As for "nobody" can get off the plane, that isnt true in the slightest.Currently, the island nation is allowing a limited number of countries to visit which does not include the UK.However, the UK has included Cyprus on its exemption list of countries that Britons can travel to without facing quarantine rules when they return.Cyprus has categorised the countries it is allowing to enter the country into ‘category A’, ’category B’ and ‘category C’.The Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) website reads: “Tourist arrivals from a limited number of countries are now permitted, but this does not include the UK.Passengers who have been in the UK, or any other destination not listed in categories A or B, in the last 14 days will not be allowed to enter Cyprus, even via a third country (eg: Greece), until further notice.
Tell me who can get off that plan ?0
