Thanks, I’ll take a look at Reims.
Reims is a beautiful town, it was our favorite stopover when we used to do long roads trips with the children.

I have a friend who used the Eurotunnel on Monday, he said it's absolutely dead, trains are still running 4 an hour but there were only about 20 cars waiting in the car park to board. One thing they have brought in is that now they won't let you through until 2 hours before your booked train, the machine tells you to exit and issues a ticket to get out, you then have to drive out, drive back to the services and wait for your time, once you go back you can then choose the next available train.

You might want to checkout the AA and/or RAC  advice about French driving laws if you have not already done so.
Although it's thousand of years ago I travelled through France a few times with my parents - fortunately Dad was clued up in advance.
I expect it's no longer the case, but back in those Medieval times , at juctions etc. vehicles had to give way priority to the right, even if you were on the major roads and approaching traffic was on a minor road. That caused significant grief for Brits when locals drove across without giving way.
Other things I remember were having yellow covers fixed to the car headlights - white lights were illegal in France - and they altered the beam to compensate for driving on the right.

Don't need the yellow covers any more.
They still have the priority a droite but it's usually overriden by the use of the yellow diamond, which means "you're on the main road" and priorite a droite doesn't apply.

That's a move in the right direction - no pun intended.

I remember when they first changed that rule. Particularly older drivers in country areas would just come at you on the N roads. Scary. 🤣
