Flexible furlough

Hi, I am working some of my 44 weeks contracted hours on flexible furlough.  I have been asked to work dates I would usually not work so is this considered overtime? Should I be paid in full for extra hours plus my usual furlough amount? Thank you.

No it can't be overtime as you have not worked 44 hours. You can't work overtime and be furloughed. If they can make you work the hours you don't normal do will depend on your contract.

Ok thank you.  I'm term time only so have been asked to work the some of the Summer holidays to be Covid ready for school to reopen in September. I am paid during the Summer holidays as my pay is split over 12 months. In normal circumstances it would be classed as overtime but being furloughed wondered if this is still the case? Thanks.

They can't pay you it as overtime and claim furlough money. Is the summer holidays normal your holidays then?

I have been working a few hours before end of term on flexible furlough. I don't usually work summer hols apart from the odd day when I would get overtime. In the Summer hols, I would usually be paid even though I am not working but have been asked to work a week when normally I wouldn't?  If this was normal circumstances, the extra work would be paid as overtime.

Just to add, I am paid for 44 weeks (school term time only) a year but it's paid across 12 months.

They will have to find a way to balance it out, they can't claim furlough for you at 80% then pay you over time as the idea is to protect jobs, how can that be protecting jobs? One day somebody will look through claims at random, they will see what the company claimed and how much you got paid and will want to know why you got paid extra then normal yet the company still claimed furlough.

Exactly as I thought too, many thanks for taking the time to advise.
