I know this is probably a ridiculous question and one to also check with my solicitor however they can take weeks at a time to respond and so find it best if I can respond to their questions with answers rather than other questions..!
Finally getting somewhere with our house purchase just awaiting one enquiry from seller. Our solicitor has asked this morning if we have a date in mind we want to complete on..
Without sounding ridiculous can this be any day and how soon can I say?! I don’t really know when to suggest? We want to move ASAP and don’t need to give any notice on our rental, so in a dream world would like to suggest sometime next week (obviously I know this isn’t possible) so when is too soon to suggest or is this just for a guide for them to put to our sellers solicitors - as in if I say as soon as possible but we can do any time or day from now until the end of August? As I said just want to avoid having to wait another week for response from solicitor if I can give a response now!
Thank you

When we moved (no chain, just us and sellers) we were asked the question on a Thursday. We suggested the following Friday and all was agreed. We moved the following Friday.
Suggest when you want, they can only say no and negotiate another date.1 -
"No specific date in mind, but ASAP please" is fine.2

It's probably worth asking the estate agent what completion date the seller is looking for, and agreeing what you will both tell your solicitors. (The estate agent can make some quick phone calls back and forth to get agreement.)
For example, if you say "any time before the end of August" to your solicitor and the seller says "any time after the end of August" to their solicitor, they'll be delays while the solicitors both write back for updates.
If your seller agrees, you can both say something like "as soon as possible - even as early as next week, if that's achievable".1 -
Perfect - thank you both0

Something I've read somewhere is to try avoid completion on a Friday in case there are any complications which would then have to wait until the following Monday.
