    Universal Credit Online

You have submitted a claim for Council Tax Support. As you are living in a Universal Credit online area you will need to make a claim for Universal Credit from the department for work and pensions for help towards your rent.

Not sure why you have posted this. Is there a question?

Rent and Council Tax are two different things. I suspect they mention rent to make it clear that the application for council tax support doesn't cover that, because those needing help with council tax due to low incomes likely need help with rent too and they're making sure to point them in the right direction. If you had housing costs (rent) that would have been accounted for in your UC maximum award before deductions, but from what you've posted you don't appear to rent anyway.

This can’t be what what the OP was originally referring to because he said the message was that a CTS claim cannot be made due to UC whereas this says a CTS claim has been made,

by only reading a section which specifically referred to housing benefit...

I don’t think we can know what the OP does and does not mean at this point!
  • Just wanted to thank the person who said to apply for JSA I had a text yesterday saying we would be getting a payment each month from them (DWP). They said about £146 a fortnight. If this is correct it will be a great help. At first I thought it was a spam text as I didn't get an email.

This is for contribution JSA based on your NI record and is only payable for 6 months, just for your forward budgeting.

If they are backdating you your redundancy date that will be included in the 6 months.
  • Thank you.

The information my council provide on their webpage regarding universal credit is very unclear  .Theysay if you are on universal credit you need to provide them of details of your claim when changes where as on JSA you just tell them once.

Presumably the changing nature of universal credit creates a lot of admin work which probably the government have not seen fit to recompense them for?

That’s surprising, I thought all councils got details of the UC award every month direct from DWP.
