Good Afternoon All,
Back in November I received a Parking Charge Notice of £60.00 having parked in an area for which VCS have responsibility.
Unwisely (although I didn't know it at the time) I admitted being the owner of the car and I appealed against the notice.
This was unsurprisingly rejected and the case has now escalated to the Small Claims Court.
I have not agreed to mediation as this would be presumably me in some way admitting guilt, which is absolutely not the case.
Can anyone advise on what I can expect, and do I have any hope of winning this case (i.e not paying).
In brief, I parked where I did having asked a guy who was sat there with a camera poking out of the top of his van if it was OK to do so to which he replied yes. (He was parked at the end of a line of parked cars, who presumably all got a ticket). I received a PCN about a week later and was naturally fuming, hence my appeal. All I have in my defence are the facts of the case as outlined, and the picture sent to me by VCS showing my car parked where it was. That picture shows my car some 20-25 feet behind the next car in front, and that 20-25ft is the space that was occupied by the VCS van. VCS deny of course that their operators would ever advie me in the way this character did. I absolutely feel that I was a victim of deliberate misdirection and entrapment.
Has anyone attended one of these cases, and can you advise me what to expect?
FINALLY...please don't lecture me on how I should not have admitted being the owner of the vehicle. It's really unhelpful at this stage!
Thanks.

Nothing wrong with being the owner of the vehicle. Nothing wrong with telling anyone that you are the owner of the vehicle.1
