I recently purchased dealership demonstrator the 69 plate several times before the purchase I had asked the bodywork on paintwork have been touched I was told no. The next day I was cleaning the car then some things that did not feel right. I phoned the dealership and told them what I had found, it was at this point the manager said he told me the car had been repaired before I purchased it. Which is totally false i told him that i was going to take it to be checked out, which I confirmed in an email. On my first day off work (4 days later) I took the car to a bodywork shop. They pointed out that it had a new door skin, 2 doors, front wing repainted and a smart repair to to the bumper that was yellowing. Some of the paintwork has pitting, orange peel effect and some foreign bodies in it. The car has not got a fault, but the paintwork has what can I do.

How recently did you buy it?
Did the bodywork shop give you a written assessment? Take that to the dealer and demand a refund. You asked a direct question and they gave a false answer, so you're entitled to return the vehicle and get your money back.0 -
AdrianC will be along soon to say that most new cars have been crashed and repaired.1

This is getting like a romantic comedy where the protagonists keep chipping away at each other until they inevitably fall into each other’s arms. Is it time for you and Adrian to get a room yet?fred246 said:AdrianC will be along soon to say that most new cars have been crashed and repaired.2 -
I'll save him the trouble - most new cars have been crashed and repaired :-)
That said OP, I think you have cause for complaint but you will need a proper written report to support your case.0 -
I'm not going to say "crashed", or even "most"... but, yes, a large number have had pre-delivery damage and bodywork rectification. Some estimates say a third.
I wonder if it's higher among "pre-reg" cars and "demos"...?
Ultimately, OP, you bought a used car and had ample opportunity to inspect it before purchase.0 -
I purchased the car on the 23/6/20.Supersonos said:How recently did you buy it?

I informed the dealership that there was something wrong with the car on the 24/6/20.
The first opportunity I got to take it it to the bodywork shop was on the 29/6/20 they don't get involved in reports. I told the dealership that I wanted to reject the car but they told me that it was not a valid reason to reject the car.

Then it was a bit of a waste of time taking it there.darenbrett said:Supersonos said:How recently did you buy it?

Which makes their opinion in practical legal terms, worthless.darenbrett said:Supersonos said:How recently did you buy it?
