Overdrafts

Hi I am new here. I just wondered if anyone else knew about this. I opened a Current Plus account with NatWest in 1997. I did not work or have a credit history. I was given an arranged overdraft facility with my basic account which I never used ever. I have read that banks don't give overdraft to people with no credit history just the bank account without overdraft facility. It was upgraded a few years ago to a Select Account still with overdraft. I have never used it. Did anyone else know why this was. Thanks

It's up to banks to make a commercial decision about who they offer overdrafts to, it isn't as black and white as you've read it to be - by definition a credit history has to start somewhere, i.e. someone has to be the first to offer credit facilities.0
