Cancelling a course and getting a refund

I recently enrolled and paid for a course before lockdown, but due to lockdown they Move my start date to Mid August. It has become impossible for me to do the course now and my financial situation means that I need to cancel abs ask for a refund. They have told me that this is not possible and will only offer me half due to the fact that they have had to register me for the qualification, purchased materials and set up the online learning platform. I am attaching the cancellation clause, can any tell me where I stand?

Clause 9.2.2 seems to set it out, so I think you've answered your own question.Rob.Mobile said:I recently enrolled and paid for a course before lockdown, but due to lockdown they Move my start date to Mid August. The only thing you might consider is to challenge them on the costs, and whether registration for the qualification, purchase of materials and setting up the online learning platform really cost half of the fee. How much did you pay?0 -

Does the contract allow them to move the start date, and/or state what your options are if they move the start date?
Or if the contract doesn't say anything about this, I think you can argue that a reasonable consumer would expect their full fee to be refunded, if the course provider cannot deliver the course on the contractually agreed date.1 -
Why has the new date become impossible or is that bit untrue and its just a financial issue? If they offered you another workable date would that be acceptable?Rob.Mobile said:It has become impossible for me to do the course now and my financial situation means that I need to cancel abs ask for a refund.
As their terms say, for cancellation they are entitled to charge their costs however you need to check the terms around rescheduling. The amicable situation really seems to be to reschedule for a date that does work for you.

This is true. I inferred from the OP that we're a stage beyond that because I think OP accepted the date would be deferred months ago.eddddy said:Rob.Mobile said:I recently enrolled and paid for a course before lockdown, but due to lockdown they Move my start date to Mid August.

OP - can you clarify what happened back in March? Did they postpone the original date and offer a refund at that point? Did you accept the principle of a rescheduled date back then but now you don't want to (or can't)?0 -
You will need to look in your contract about what it says about the start date.
If it doesn't mention anything about them being able to change this, then you are entitled to a FULL refund, as they cannot just move the start date and say tough sh*t!
The T&Cs you have listed are irrelevant because you are cancelling due to them moving the start date of the course.Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')
No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)0
