Hi everyone,

If i was to book a package holiday to the US for February next year, given that the US is still on various FCO travel advisories, and the 14 day self isolation is still in force for people returning to the UK from the US, if the situation wasnt to improve or even deteriorate inthe US, what would i be covered for in terms of cancellation? Its an ABTA covered package, but would this cover apply given the holiday was booked whilst FCO advice still had the US in the red zone?

Regardless of FCO advice, until US lifts it restriction on any one  who has been  in th UK ( along with other areas)    within  the previous 14 days entering US you  will be booking with that knowledge so I doubt you would  be covered if you  are prohibited entry. Your flight and accommodation may still be available.

Insurance could certainly be an issue considering the current advice against travel but its not ABTA protection you need to be looking for, it is ATOL protection, If you book an ATOL protected holiday and the operator cannot provide it then they are obliged to refund it, but a quick look at this forum will tell you, many have found it difficult or impossible to get the money back. There will be plenty of availability to book when things have claimed down, so my advice would be to wait and see how things develop
