Travelling to see my family in Sweden

Hi there
My son lives with his mom in Sweden, I haven't seen him since end of January because of current conditions. I could go there, but in return I need to quarantine 2 weeks without pay, I can't afford it, can I do a covid test in return privately and if it was negative then go back to work, (use test as alternative). Any idea when government reviewing Sweden again, many thanks in advance for any advice.

Just keep upto date with the news.
I dont know about using a private test to avoid the quarantine.1 -
What test are you talking about? If it is a test to see if you have covid, then I can't see that being acceptable as the whole point of quarantining for 14 days is to cover the time span when you are likely to contract it. So being clear on day 1 gives no indication of you will go down with it on day 13.
If it is an antibody test, then logically if you have antibodies you won't be susceptible to covid, but insufficient people have gone down this route for the government to make provision for this. I suspect that the answer will be no to stop an illegal and irresponsible trade in dodgy certificates. In the same way that the face mask rules do not allow exemption for those who have antibodies.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. Thanks for reply, but this test can't be used as alternative, why government trying to put test facility in airports (already talks going on) as alternative to 14 days quarantine. Thanks0

Once they are satisfied it is acceptable then they can change the rules.
Until then the current quarantine rules are in force and no alternative to take a test instead.
There won't be a change regarding Sweden until the infection rate there falls.0 -
It is not the government who are proposing tests at Heathrow, and then only in terminal 2, it is a private company, Swissport, who proposed the idea to the government 4 weeks ago, and like most organisations, I suspect they haven't had a reply. They suggested for £150 they would test you on arrival and give you the result the following day and if it was negative, the government would allow you to ignore the remaining 13 days of quarantine.
There is nothing to suggest the government has any intention of accepting the offer, and even if they did, and you travelled, there is nothing to say when you got back, if the scheme had not been taken up by arriving passengers, Swissport might have abandoned the whole scheme, leaving you with 14 days quarantine.
The problem is no one wants passengers from Sweden at present as they ignored all the sensible ideas at the start of the crisis and allowed the virus to get out of control and there is as yet nothing to suggest things are getting much better, sorry!
