Adidas are refusing to cancel my online order......surely they can’t do this?!

I placed an order on the Adidas website and received an estimated delivery date which was replaced with a delivery date (Saturday just gone) in a further email. I then received a email from them a day before the delivery date stating ‘your order has been delayed’. There is no expected delivery date attached! I needed it by yesterday so I requested to cancel the order via their WhatsApp customer service number on Saturday but got no reply. I rang the customer service number and a cancellation request was sent to the warehouse and that would happen by today or so I was told. I’ve had no confirmation of this so far!
I got a reply on the WhatsApp number on Sunday stating I could not cancel my order and that I would have to wait until the order is delivered to return it. I was told I had 15 minutes after placing the order to cancel. I again requested that this be cancelled as they were at fault for not being able to stick to the original delivery date and can not give me a date when it will be delivered. This was again refused.
I have since received a further 2 emails stating my order is delayed and I still have no delivery date. Just looking for some advice before I ring tomorrow to check on my cancellation request to the warehouse.

sorry for being long winded

    Their terms state:

Acceptance of your order and the formation of a contract of sale of the Standard Products between you and us will not take place unless and until either:

    1. you receive a confirmation from us that the Standard Products have been shipped to you from our warehouse; or
    2. you receive a confirmation from the carrier that the Standard Products are ready for you to pick up if you have chosen to pick up the Standard Product(s) at a carrier office or the carrier has stored the Standard Products at the pickup location; or
    3. you receive a confirmation from us that the Standard Products are ready for you to pick them up at the selected adidas store, in the event you have chosen to collect the Standard Products you ordered and paid for on the Website at an adidas store (Click & Collect).
Based on my understanding, you need to highlight the above to them and advise that as they have not yet accepted your offer and a contract has not been formed they are obligated to cancel the order.
