Experian Complaint unresolved

After about three months of asking, Experian just can’t correct their mistake. They listed a credit card account as out of promotional period when it still had 14 months left to run so it looks like I pay  minimum and not paying off the full balance therefore accruing charges and interest. I pay the minimum because it’s still in the promo period. I don’t have to pay interest.

Experian did contact the credit provider who replied it’s in the promo period. This is after Experian told me they can only go by the info providers supply them with. So the provider didn’t tell them it was out of promo period.

However Experian then send me a very formal email stating we are sorry that was not the result you were looking for and giving me options for leaving notes on my file or contacting the credit provider to ask them what exactly?!
It’s Experian that need to amend the file to say the account is STILL IN THE PROMO PERIOD. It’s Experian who decided it’s not in a promotional period. Cannot think of any other explanation.
They seem to be a bit thick.

I have replied asking why they don’t amend my file.

Does anyone know if there is a ombudsman type organisation governing the activities of credit reference agencies or can offer any advice as I feel like I’m banging my head against the wall with this company?
Thanks.

Yes. The FOS or the ICO.

Or contact the lender and ask them to update Experian with the correct data again.

Have you contacted the credit card provider at all? That's what you need to do because Experian, thick as they may be, will only change information if it's provided by the lender. I'm afraid that you ARE banging your head against a brick wall by contacting Experian. Only by asking the credit card company to sort this out for you will Experian take action. I know it's tedious and stupid. I've had to do it myself.  What adverse effect is it actually having on your credit report though, does it reflect that you're missing payments or anything, has your score (I know, we don't take any notice of scores on here!) gone down? If you really DO want it to be amended properly, contact the CC company.  And, as they say, in the meantime Experian will put a note on your file. If you don't jump through their hoops, they won't do anything because they don't have to. Believe me, I know!

    Thanks what is the ICO?

I have contacted the lender and they are supposedly carrying out their own enquiries although haven’t heard back from them yet, two weeks or so.

The joke is the lender has told Experian it IS in a promo period but instead of reacting and amending my report it remains as N = out of promo period!

I was unaware promotional rates or payments amounts were on your report - when did this happen?

I thought your report just stated amount owed, amount used, paid monthly yes or no

Yes I have awaiting their findings, well Inwill phone them tomorrow and see if they actually did anything. But they did tell Experian it’s in a promo period but Experian think I think that’s bad news! In fact that should make Experian amend my file to Y not N as explained above.

Score dropped 230 points in one month.

Dont know if it affected my score or not.

Your score has no relevance in any of this. Or anything else for that matter.

So would potential credit card companies I may apply to be put off by the apparent minimum payment only being made on a credit card that ‘Appears’ to them c/o Experian mistake,  to be out of promotional period therefore apparently accruing interest!?

Lenders can see that you're on a 0% rate because your balance will have reduced by the same amount as the sum of your monthly payments.  Whilst perhaps annoying that they're technically not reporting it as they should it won't affect you so I'd save yourself the bother and move on.
